Message from the Orr Shalom Executive Director

I am proud to serve as Executive Director of Orr Shalom, the largest not-for-profit organization in Israel that cares for children-at-risk that have been removed from their homes.

After many years of direct work with children-at-risk, particularly in my previous role as Director of Orr Shalom's Foster Central program, I have witnessed first-hand time and time again that children who live in a positive family environment with the right support are able to mature into young adults with skills that help them become contributing members of Israeli society.

At Orr Shalom we fully understand the great responsibility we have in caring for 1,300 children and youth at risk. These babies, children and teenagers who have been severely abused and neglected at home were removed from their homes by the social welfare services and placed in our care. We provide them warm, loving and nurturing homes, which help them become productive, independent adults. In all that we do, we are guided by core values of professionalism, dedication, transparency, excellence, creativity and community.

Our residential frameworks include therapeutic family group homes, foster homes, emergency foster homes, intensive care closed facilities and a transition home for graduates.  We also provide preventative care programs, a second-hand store where our teenagers gain work experience, and programs that strengthen our children such as supplementary education and enrichment, life cycle events, vacation camps for children with no place to go, life skills programs and more.

Thanks to our wonderful foster parents, house parents and professional staff, and our loyal partners, friends and donors, we are able to provide safe, loving homes for each and every child in our care.
