Orr Shalom Professionals

Our team consists of passionate professionals, experts in their respective fields, who are fully focused on meeting the needs of the children in Orr Shalom's care.   We work closely as a team and gain great personal satisfaction from helping Israel's most vulnerable children reach their potential in all aspects of their lives.


Anat Dunowicz – Executive Director
Anat Dunowicz has served as the Executive Director of Orr Shalom since February 2008. Previously she served for seven years as Orr Shalom's Director of Foster Care Services, during which the number of children cared for by the organization's foster services rose from 400 to 700. Anat has also held other senior positions in the social welfare sector, and has taught at the Israeli Center for Social Work Training.

Anat holds a B.A. in Social Work and an MSW with an emphasis in Family Therapy from Tel Aviv University.


Ron Garfield – Chief Financial Officer
Ron Garfield has served as Orr Shalom's Chief Financial Officer since May 2008. Previously, he served for five years as a Senior Manager in the department of the Chief Comptroller in Israel's Ministry of Finance. From 2000-2003, Ron worked as an Auditor at KPMG Israel.

Ron holds a B.A in Economics and Accounting and a MBA from Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Ron is also a qualified CPA in the USA.


Michael Fisher – Director of Development and Community Outreach
Michael Fisher is Orr Shalom's Director of Development. Before assuming this position, Michael served as Israel Emergency Campaign Field Manager for UJC Israel. Previously, Michael served as a Community Shaliach in Pittsburgh, prior to which he was Director of Programming and Curricula at Yad Vashem. Michael has also served as the Director of the International Department of the Arts and Culture Administration at the Ministry of Science and the Arts. He is the recipient of the Yakir Tziyon award for his outstanding contribution to Israel-Diaspora relations.

Michael studied Theater Directing and Production towards a B.A. in Theater Studies at Tel Aviv University.


Noa Goldman – Chief Social Worker
Noa Goldman has served as Orr Shalom's Chief Social Worker since 2006. In this capacity, she is responsible for the therapeutic professional development and oversight within the organization including ongoing staff training. Noa has been an integral part of Orr Shalom's therapeutic team since 1995 and over the years she has held a number of senior positions within the organization.  She is an expert in adolescent care and has managed Adolescent Girls' Homes caring for girls who have undergone severe emotional and physical abuse.

Noa holds a B.A in Social Work from the Hebrew University and an M.A in Clinical Social Work from Bar Ilan University.

 

Iris Lieberman – Chief Psychologist
Iris has served as Orr Shalom's Chief Psychologist since 2005. In this capacity, she is responsible for Orr Shalom's team of psychologists, internship program and staff training according to the organization's therapeutic approach. Previously Iris served for thirteen years as Chief Psychologist at Beit Hanna, a treatment centre for at-risk teenage boys.  Simultaneously, Iris also studied Animal Therapy at the David Yellin College of Education, and served as an organizational psychologist for school principals.

Iris holds a B.A. in Psychology and Education and an M.A in Clinical Psychology from Hebrew University.


Tali Halaf – Director of Foster Central Program
Tali Halaf has served as the Director of Orr Shalom's "Foster Central" program since March 2008. In this capacity, she is responsible for managing the foster program which includes oversight of 40 social workers caring for 750 children in 550 families and for the Therapeutic Foster program which comprises a team of thirteen social workers, psychologists and psychiatrists caring for 70 children with a psychiatric profile in 40 foster families in the Jerusalem region. Tali has worked in senior management positions in the foster service field since 1991.

Tali holds a B.A. in Social Work from the Hebrew University and an MSW with Honors, with an emphasis on the Clinical Track, from Bar Ilan University.

Chamootal Gordon-Shamir – Director of Therapeutic Family Group Homes
Chamootal serves as the Director of Orr Shalom's 24 Therapeutic Family Group Homes that care for a total of 224 6-18 year olds who have been removed from their homes by the social welfare services. Chamootal joined Orr Shalom in 2009, after thirty years' experience of working with children in out-of-home frameworks. Over the past 12 years, Chamootal established and managed the social work field at Yeladim – Fair Chance for Children, a non-profit organization that assists children in residential group homes. In addition, she has worked closely with the JDC on strategic planning, participated in national conferences and published professional literature on the subject of children and youth in out-of-home care.

Chamootal has a B.A. in Criminology from Bar Ilan University, and a B.A. and M.A. in Social Work from Tel Aviv University, specializing in family therapy.


Efrat Levi – Director of Therapeutic Foster Program
Efrat Levi serves as the Director of Orr Shalom's Therapeutic Foster Program that cares for 70 children with a psychiatric profile in 40 foster families in the Jerusalem region.  Previously, Efrat served for six years as a Therapeutic Foster Program social worker at Orr Shalom where she worked intensively with foster children and their biological families.

Efrat has a B.A in Social Work from the Hebrew University and an M.A in Social Work from the Hebrew University, specializing in the Individual and the Family.


Roni Siboni – Director of Reut Intensive Care Facility for Boys
Roni Siboni is the Director of Reut since 2008, having worked in a variety of other positions within the intensive care home for boys for the last six years. Roni has worked with children-at-risk for the last twelve years.

Roni holds a B.A. in Education and Far East Studies, and is currently working towards a Master's degree from the Hebrew University in NGO management.

 

Anat Hendel – Director of Goldschmidt Intensive Care Facility for Girls
Anat Hendel serves as the Director of Beit Goldshmidt Intensive Care Facility for Girls, having developed her social work career in Orr Shalom since she joining the team in1998. Anat worked as a social worker for six years in the Beersheva Therapeutic Family Group Homes, after which she served as Cluster Director for Therapeutic Family Group Homes in Ashkelon for four years. Prior to joining Orr Shalom, Anat worked with children with a psychiatric profile in Beersheva Psychiatric Hospital.

Anat holds a B.A. in Social Work from Bar Ilan University and an M.A in Social Work from Ben Gurion University, specializing in Art Therapy. Anat is also qualified to instruct social work students.
