Orr Shalom's EL AL volunteers come to the rescue!

Yoav*, 12, lives in one of our family group homes. This week he needed a special medical test that required him to stay awake all night until the doctors could monitor him at 7am. His house parents did not know what to do – how could they make Yoav stay up all night, stay up themselves, take him to his early morning appointment and look after their two children and the other eight Orr Shalom children who live in the home?

Luckily, the home’s long-standing volunteers from EL AL came to the rescue! Moshik and Hadas arrived at the home at 11pm, ready for a night of fun.  They took Yoav on a whirlwind night filled with computer game competitions, a bowling tournament that ended at 3am, a delicious ‘midnight feast’ in a Tel Aviv restaurant, and much more. Yoav arrived at his doctor’s appointment at the right time, exhausted but having enjoyed a night filled with fun and laughs. Yoav was showered with love and attention and had an amazing time!

We at Orr Shalom want to thank these special volunteers for their willingness to help with a difficult situation and their amazing creativity. Yoav had a truly special experience he will never forget.

We also want to thank our entire EL AL volunteer group for their constant help and enthusiasm, and the love they always show to Orr Shalom’s children and staff. We have built up an amazing partnership over the years and appreciate everything they do!
