On January 9th, Orr Shalom held a Gala fundraising event at the Tel Aviv port. The evening opened with a gourmet reception catered by the renowned chef Paul Assenheim at the 'Trask', overlooking the sea-front, attended by five hundred guests. Following the reception, everyone headed over to the Reading 3 club, where they were welcomed by Orr Shalom's Executive Director, Anat Dunowicz. Following Anat's remarks, Orr Shalom's new promotional video was screened for the first time. The evening was hosted by Israeli television Channel Ten news anchor, Miki Haimovich. She hosted a panel that featured Chantal and Rafi Hachmon, foster-parents to four children (in addition to six biological-children of their own!); Kamel, the biological-father of a child who is currently in therapeutic-foster; and Nati Wilder, a graduate of foster-central who is now in the army. The audience listened in near silence through this part of the evening, a real testament to the amazing stories of our children and those who care for them. Finally, Orr Shalom Chair Oren Plotkin thanked all the guests, offering ways for them to get involved in the future, before the famous Israeli musician Idan Raichel rounded off the evening with an exclusive acoustic performance, including all of his major hits, along with the other members of 'The Idan Raichel Project'.

The event was a huge success, raising over 600,000 shekels that will go straight towards helping Orr Shalom's children, as well as raising our public profile, and reminding people of the importance of providing Israeli children-at-risk with warm and loving homes.
