Statistics
According to the Central Bureau of Statistics, of
the 2,340,000 children in Israel, 28 percent live below the poverty
line.
Approximately 330,000 of these children are considered to be at varying
levels of high risk, 200,000 have been identified and are being
monitored by the Ministry of Social Welfare. Of these, 68,000 are being
raised for the most part outside of their biological homes, 10,000
have been removed from their homes because they are in imminent danger.
These are the children of our Orr Shalom family.
Orr Shalom's goal is to stop this vicious cycle of abuse and violence.
We try to rebuild their shattered lives and by doing so, hope to ensure that
future generations will not abuse their own children in turn. We are
helping these children to become responsible and productive members
of Israeli society. We pledge to provide them with the necessary therapy
and support to enable them to succeed.
